RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS
For Arizona Real Estate Brokers & Salespersons
Each Arizona real estate salesperson and broker must complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years. You must have three (3) hours in each of the following categories, which will give you 18 hours.
Real Estate Legal Issues
Contract Law
Agency Law
Fair Housing
Commissioners Standards
Disclosure
The balance of the 24 hours may be made up of any of the above classifications or courses in the "General" category.
Note: New sales persons and new brokers are initially given a two year license; these people must take 24 hours to renew their license.
New real estate brokers and designated brokers are required to also take the 3 hour Broker Management Clinic every two years, which will also satisfy the 3 hour requirement in the category “Commissioner’s Standards.”
New real estate salespersons are required to take the 6 hour Contract Writing “Boot Camp” Course as a prerequisite to getting their new license, but this course may also be used for the salesperson’s first license renewal and will satisfy the 3 hour requirement in the category “Contract Law” and the 3 hour requirement in the category “Real Estate Legal Issues.” In other words, new salespersons only need to take an additional 18 hours for their first renewal, and 2 of the 6 categories have already been satisfied.
All Four Year Licenses: If you are a salesperson or broker and have a 4 year license, you MUST still take 24 hours of continuing education (CE) credit every 2 years. You can take MORE than 24 hours of CE, but NOT LESS. If you take more than 24 hours of CE in a 2 year period, the CE credits do not “carry over” to the next two years or to the next renewal period.
In each 2 year period, ADRE requires that all licensees (brokers and salesperson) take at least one 3 hour CE course in each of the six categories listed above. One 3 hour CE course in each of the 6 ADRE required categories equals 18 hours. For the other 6 hours, you may take 1 or 2 “General” courses or 1 or more of any of the required category courses.
STILL CONFUSED?
If you need all 24 hours, we make it easy to get all 24 hours and all 6 required categories. Simply select any of the 24 Hour Renewal Packages.
If you already have some CE, but need more to equal a total of 24 CE hours, we make it easy to determine what you need. Use this Course Selection Template.
Quadrennial NAR Ethics requirement. Although not required for license renewal, salespersons and brokers, who are members of the National Association of Realtors and/or a local Association of Realtors, are also required to take an "ethics course" every four years ("Ethics in Real Estate," which may be taken as an individual course but is also included in Arizona Renewal Package 2, meets this requirement).
IMPORTANT NOTE: You cannot take (or receive) more than 9 credit hours of continuing education instruction in one calendar day.
